In general, International weekly courses in Vocal Sound Therapy have the same structure, but the online groups are much smaller (5-12 participants) than at the physical courses (15-28 participants) The level of the participants is generally taken into account. This means that if it is a group with many fourth-time participants and or beginners, the level will be raised/lowered and or the group will be divided into two groups in parts of the teaching.
Since there are also workshops lasting 2-5 days around the world, lectures, Monday sound healings as well as weekly singing groups, self-study groups, online webinars, edited webinars and films for self-study, it is up to a participant to decide if they wish to take an exam and or feel ready for it. The entrance requirements, which include a minimum of 30 documented cases with different clients, good results, guarantee that the applicant already has experience in the field. If you are unsure about this, you can ask about it at a course. You must feel free as a fish in the method.
Previously, the minimum requirements for taking the exam were 4 week courses in the basic education, but this has now changed because some work through self-study and or have participated in several different events online, weekend courses, students courses and so on.
Participants in a week-long course have different levels and only get the tasks they feel ready for, as it varies how much the individual has practiced between the courses. At each physical week-long course there are beginners, 2nd, 3rd and 4th time participants. Those who have participated in more than one week of training are called “skilled participants” and can, if they have the courage, prepare well and try to instruct in warming up, breathing, the Tone from Heaven. In addition, those who feel ready are given greater responsibility in therapy situations. This means that in group work there will, as far as possible, always be a “skilled one” who supports the beginners. In this way, you train to become a therapist.
There is always either Githa Ben-David and/or an assistant teacher who looks at the groups during the training. It is our experience that in-depth practice of The Note from Heaven and Hung Song first on yourself, then in Vocal Sound Therapy treatment of clients is the prerequisite for later being able to lead a group. You do not start leading a group without first having had clients one-on-one and feeling comfortable with it.
The teaching is in English or Danish (if it is a Danish group).
International Online Education in Vocal Sound Therapy
The Online Education week includes and relates to 20 hours of edited lessons, which the participants watch in advance and can question during the online training. If you have already purchased these, the amount for the films will be deducted from the course price and you will receive a discount coupon. Number of participants (5-12) at 9-11 am (Cet) and/or at 16-18 Pm (Cet) Both sessions have the same content, but you are welcome to participate both times and or combine with morning and evening throughout the week. You register in advance for one session per day. The course starts and ends on a Sunday with 7 days of teaching, Saturday free practice day followed by summary, teaching and evaluation, Sunday.
Generally, the teaching takes place as QPS meetings: Question, Practice and Sharing. Each day’s theme corresponds to certain films of the 18 lessons, which you purchase unlimited access to when you start the Online Education. In the live teaching you can ask questions, try out the method practically and share your challenges in practice situations with Githa Ben-David and or an assistant teacher.
The practice time is usually at the end or after the teaching and takes place in virtual rooms on https://meet.jit.si/ It is recommended to download Google Chrome as a browser.
The time interval of 2 hours of continuous teaching is adjusted according to the wishes/time zone of the students in case the mentioned times do not fit.
Weekly schedule:
- 1st day: The Note from Heaven
- 2nd day: Instruction in The Note from Heaven
- 3rd day: Sing yourself Free/Regressive Cell Singing
- 4th day: Regressive Cell Singing with storytelling
- 5th day: Healing/Sound scanning
- 6th day: Sound scanning
- 7th day: Free practice day without a teacher
- 8th day: Combined sound healing, evaluation and rounding off.
Advantages of online teaching: Students who have participated in, for example, two online courses and then participate in a physical course meet the standard well. They are not trained in choral sound healing, but quickly get there, as we also train tonal intervals in the online education. On the other hand, students who swear by physical courses are less likely to treat and or meet online. This limits their opportunities to get clients. Online is here to stay, and treatment is much simpler and saves a lot of transportation and personal contact, which is an advantage for intensive daily treatment of acute illness, e.g. during pandemics, serious illness and in general less traffic is good for the climate.
Githa Ben-David has treated Covid patients admitted to the emergency department over the phone. In many cases, they survived and were quickly discharged. So online treatment offers incredible opportunities. It is recommended to mix online courses with physical courses.
- 9 – 10 Instruction in The Note from Heaven: films 2,3,4 are reviewed briefly, all participants are given the opportunity to be heard, questions about instruction, demonstration on a couple of cases singing The Note from Heaven, common singing. Githa Ben-David hears everyone singing.
- 10:00 -10:30 Hung Song. The Students work in groups, and Githa move around hearing everyone singing here.
- 10.30 -11 Evaluation, questions, sharing of experience, and homework for the next day.
An in-person course day in Molino Del Rey in Spain could look like this:
- 7.00- 9.00: Yoga, warm-up, meditation, The Note from Heaven, interval training, choral sound healing.
- 9.00 Brunch
- 10.15 -13.00 Teaching in plenary followed by groupwork.
- 13.00 Lunch
- 14.00 -16.00 Silent time. Hiking, winter swimming/bathing in pool, sea or waterfall.
- 16.00-18.00 Free practice time
- 18.00: Dinner
- 19.15 – 20.30: Lecture/relaxation/singing together/teaching
